Debt does not reduce after payments

I have been making payments to my account as of 31st via Edgar's store. The balance that I initially had to pay was about R4900. I made a payment on 31st December 2017 of R1000, two separate payments of R500 in December and R500 in Jan. When I asked for my outstanding I was told its R5000. What have I been making payments for if nothing has reduced ..instead it goes higher. I'm being billed for calls and sms's that I don't even receive and the phone number they have does not even belong to me...seems I'm being punished for trying to pay my debt. The consultants at Norman bisset and associates are unhelpful and unprofessional. No one has given me a proper explanation to why my bill is going up instead of down. I need a professional to explain to me. So many charges for what?
