NMI DSM Umhlanga dishonest dealership
On 30th December 2020, I purchased a Haval H2 SUV from NMI-DSM Umhlanga, Durban. My instalment on the bond calculator at that time was R3344 per month with 8% lending rate. However, the dealership noted that I should fix the interest lending rate for the duration of the contract if I paid R200 more on my monthly instalments, and I agreed, which increased my instalment to R3544 per month. In good faith I signed the contract in person and took ownership of my vehicle on 1st January 2021. In March 2022, the bank was sending out letters to say that the lending rate has increased. I contacted NMI-DSM Umhlanga who noted that their Finance staff, Gerda Erasmus has left the company and that she did not impend the fixed lending rate. The dealership also denied that I did not sign the contract in person and that I did everything online. Hence, I was only given an electronic copy of the contract with no signatures. I lodged a case with Ombudsman for the Motor Industry of SA who noted that it is a banking matter and escalated the case to Ombudsman for banking services. The dealership has **** to the OBS saying that I opted to a linked rate and not a fixed rate, hence OBS has closed the case saying that I signed the contract in agreement to the linked rate. To-date Wesbank or the Dealership has not provided me with a signed contract. Why would I opt to pay more on my monthly instalments and settle for a linked fluctuating lending rate. Surely the OBS and MIO can act on my behalf to see the ********** activity of the dealership, dating back to the bond calculator for December 2020 which totaled my instalment to R3344 on R150,000 deposit. Clearly this was the negligent on the part of the dealership who requested that I should pay R3544 and that they have not impended the fixed lending rate. The dealership also coaxed me into buying an additional 2 more packages for R11,000 for paint and seat protection plan. The dealership used its powers to lure innocent woman clients that had a good job like myself and took advantage of the situation to sell them unnecessary packages to their sales benefits. In conclusion, NMI-DSM Umhlanga has requested that Gerda Erasmus leave the company, as this has probably happened to many other clients like myself.
