Poor Benefits Claim Response from NMG Benefits
My aunt has been retrenched from Edcon. She completed her employment in August 2020. She is currently still awaiting her provident fund benefits claim. They informed her that she would receive it end January 2021. When she called in the first week of Feb 2021 she was informed that she would receive it on 5 February 2021. Since then she has been calling and there has been no answer, or they answer and transfer the call, it rings until it eventually cuts off. She urgently requires her payment and has no money and has to spend air time calling for more than 20 minutes at a time. It is so appalling that she is having to receive such poor service for accessing her own benefits. Please can you assist as a matter of urgency.
NMG Benefits have not called my aunt once today. They ostensibly "shall attend to the query with care and urgency." Perhaps I should take the matter to the media or some formal body to get it the attention needed. I shall be contacting Wendy Knowler from Consumer Watch to assist. It seems that not only my aunt is experiencing this pathetic treatment but other Edcon employees as well. It is deplorable treatment of people who have given dedicated service to an organisation, been retrenched, experienced the trauma of retrenchment and now experiencing poverty whilst waiting for THEIR benefits payment.
