Disappointment after many years of patronage.

24 January took my Nissan Levina x-gear in for a service. At Nissan EC in PE.

Explained to Service Advisor Almarie vd Merwe – that my car has done only 54K and what will the service entail. She said that they will do a 75K service and that the following will be done: change the oil, plus the oil filter and then replace the sump washer. I asked her what the cost for this service will be and she said R2 200.00 – I asked her to please find out if the cost of the service could be reduced, as I believe it is too high for what will be done. She said that she will find out for me. I phoned again that afternoon to be told that the the service cost can only be brought down to R1 900 (which in my opinion was still too high). I cancelled the service. When I went to collect my car the service book which I left at the service counter with Almarie was missing. I had to keep on asking for my service book and, I eventually asked for a replacement book - which I have fetched in the meantime (how does a dealership lose one's service book?). I had my car serviced in the meantime at a stand alone registered workshop/service provider at much less than R2 200 which I was quoted at Nissan EC. I am trying to understand why Nissan EC was not interested in accommodating my request for a lower service tariff? Is it arrogance in terms of they do not need my patronage, that they have more than enough business and do not need to hang on to a loyal customer? I love my Nissan – but this experince will make me think twice when I hopefully soon buy a new car.
