Pathetic Service

Went to Nino's Rosebank for their breakfast special (R30 for a cuppachino, 1 slice bread, 2 eggs, 1 piece of bacon and some tomatoes). Firstly the waiter, Jonathan, got the type of bread wrong and said they are going to charge R3 extra to bring the white bread. This was still all fine as any person can make a mistake. The problem came in when my friend could not finish her breakfast - she ate half of it - and asked for a box to take the rest to work as it was already 08.00. The waiter refused to give a takeaway box as it was not allowed to give the breakfast special as takeaway. He could not understand that it was not a take away, rather left overs. We asked to speak to the manager upon which the waiter came out again and said it is not allowed and we should bring our own containers. I had to go in to look for the manager myself as I thought it is basic common sense what we were asking and that any person with reasonable understanding could see it that way. Once I found the manager, he told me that they are not a charity and does not give take away boxes for free on the breakfast special. He said that it costs them R5 a box and that I can't expect them to pay for this when we only paid R30. I even said well, add the R5 to the bill, upon which he just glared at me as if I asked him to solve a Friedmann equation. He was still stubborn to assist, then it dawned on me that the extra slice of toast was not part of the breakfast special. When I told him, he got the same glare in his eyes, cause he could not think of any more excuses. The waiter then brought the R5 box - which was nothing else than a polysterene holder (the one you buy 100 pieces for R90). Not that it makes a difference, but I thought as the company I work for buys the majority of our lunches from them they could at least provide a better service for their loyal customers as they are fami**** with us.
