Heartbroken 8 year old

On 26 June 2015 my 8 year old spent all her birthday money on a Nikon Coolpix S6150 camera after being told by the store attendant at Incredible connection, Fourways Crossing, that it is an excellent camera. Less than a year later the battery has packed up. The cost of the battery is the same as the initial cost of the camera. She does not have the money to replace it. <br> The camera carries a 2 year warranty but the warranty excludes battery replacement. My daugthter is deeply disappointed and we feel completely **********.<br> <br> Is this the kind of quality we are supposed to accept and expect from Nikon products? Is it normal for a battery to last only a few months? WOULD LIKE YOUR COMMENTS PLEASE.<br>
