Unhappy and very dissatisfied customer!!!

I bought a pair of Nike Pretos at Sportscene (Canal Walk) on or about February 2017 and I loved the shoe. Upon purchase I queried with the salesman if there had been any issue with the shoe as I was concerned with the material at the toe and the way it was glued to the front as there was no stitching. He said there has been no problems. Upon payment (R1300) I was told that there was warranty on the shoe. Nine months later I noticed that the material come apart (causing a hole) on the right shoe due to poor workmanship. I went back to Sportscene on 25 November 2107 only to be told that Nike SA only issues a 6 month warranty. And as it was after the 6 months there is nothing I can do. So now I am sitting with a shoe which I spent R1300 on which I can not wear as a result of poor workmanship and not due to any fault of mine. So I am just to throw the shoe away? I am not asking for any money I would like to know if it could be repaired (which I doubt) or I would like a replacement shoe. I don't have a receipt for the purchase but can remember the date the shoe purchased and that it was purchased on a cheque card and I was told that Sportscene can find the receipt on the system if I provide the date of purchase etc. I would appreciate feedback before I lodge a complaint with the consumer commissioner as to the way forward. Regards
