Incorrect sizing & unwillingness to help

I recently bought a new pair of Nike Running/Training shoes at the Nike store at Atterbury Value Mart.

I wear a UK size 8 shoe (and all my other older Nike shoes are an 8) but this time the 8 was to big and I bought a 7.5 - or so I thought. The 7.5 is still to big.

When I compare to my older shoes vs the new (ones which should be smaller) they are in acctual fact smaller than the new 'smaller' size I bought.

After wearing them twice and realising that they are still to big, I went back to the store the explain this to the manager. He was unwilling to help / refund / exchange them as them policy states that must be in a re-sellable condition. He refused to even consider that there might be a sizing mistake on the shoe.
