6 Month old Nike Free Runs falling apart!!

I purchased my Nike Free Run Flyknit 4.0's from the Nike store at Eastgate in April, last week I noticed that the stitching near the ankle seam has unraveled completely and has developed a huge hole, I took the shoes back to Nike Eastgate and was told that the 6 month warranty had expired on the shoes and they are unable to replace them? the manager at the store said a Nike representative would come into look at them and make a call this did not happen and apparently only a picture was sent to the representative to which he/she responded by saying that they still cannot replace as six months have past?????I am sorry but that is a feeble excuse and I implore anyone from Nike SA to come a view the condition of the shoes I've hardly worn them!! I even took them in to try be repaired but the shoe care expert clearly stated that the problem is definitely a factory defect and he can't help me!!! Now I am sitting with a pair of R1 400 trainers which are virtually new and can never be wore ever again.
