I was recently pre-approved by FNB for a homeloan. I decided to go with the ABSA loan as they offered me a more reasonable installment to pay every month. When I attended the ABSA Academy for first time homeowners then we were informed about the FLISP this was after the loan was approved. So I submitted the forms after the property was registered in my name as I was not told that I needed to apply before the house was registered in my name. The bank was supposed to submit the application on our behalf as we wrote our names but that didn't happen. My application was declined because of the property was already in my name. My argument is that I am a first time home owner that is earning between R3 501 to R22 000 per month and I strongly believe that the subsidy should be given as long as I am a first time owner and not be declined especially if the lender didn't require this before the application for the bond was approved so that every one that qualifies is not ****** of the benefit that the government has made available to the South African. This does not change the fact that I am the a first time owner and my salary 3501 -22000. I am sure that many South Africans are not even aware of this subsidy.
