No Accountability & Misinformation

Our daughter recently had space maintainers fitted, a necessary procedure to protect her dental health and prevent more serious complications in the future as advised by the dentist, who has been very welcoming & friendly, & whom our daughter is so fond of.

As parents, we simply wanted to do what was best for her. Before the procedure, we made sure to seek approval from our medical aid, which was initially declined. We then opted to put the procedure on hold, but a few days prior to the fitting, we were reassured by the doctor’s office that the costs would be covered by the medical aid via telephone. That confirmation gave us peace of mind and allowed us to move forward without hesitation.

Unfortunately, only after the procedure was completed, we were devastated to learn that the account had been handed over to debt collectors. We later discovered that we had been misinformed about the medical aid coverage and no one wants to take responsibility.

What was meant to be a responsible decision for our daughter’s wellbeing has now turned into a stressful financial strain. This bill has put a heavy emotional weight on our shoulders. We went through with the procedure in good faith as we were assured by the doctors office that the bill will be covered. Even after a month, no one wants to take responsibility for the misinformation.
