NHBRC should regulate the regulator!

<p>I have taken out a home loan and a contractor paid by the developer, oribel 35, was set to complete my home in June 2015. This did not happen. I was then issued a letter of occupation for November 2015. My house was still incomplete, I had no place to go and could no longer store my items and requested the key to my place as I had made living arrangements according to what they had told me. Upon receiving my key I was told that I would get my occupation certificate the week to follow and could sign for final payment. Once the certificate was issued, it was the incorrect name on the certificate and requested that the correct name be on the certificate before I pay the developer. They had not done so. After numerous requests for assistance from the NHBRC- since June 2015- I have received no response to date. I called a conveyancer who helped me and I received my certificate. I then wanted to sign over final payment and found out that they had not had an electrical certification done. I contacted the NHBRC once again. The developer had not paid me my outstanding interim interest, which in the contract states they will stop paying once final payment is made and said that I will be charged occupational rent- which I did not agree to. Again- the NHBRC was contacted and did not assist me.</p> <p>The NHBRC have continuously failed to take action against the developer and have left many home owners in the lurch. How is there a regulatory building industry body to assist home owners etc. in such instances when the regulatory body themselves do not practice their mandate?</p> <p> </p>
