NHBRC Pathetic

What is the purpose of the NHBRC? We had an incident where my dog ran through our sliding door and the entire sliding door came off the rail and shattered. The sliding door was not shatterproof and thank goodness my dog did not get hurt. NHBRC to me is of no use as this was not suppose to be approved when the house was built.
