NHBRC in Clayville ext 45
I have been in communication with the NHBRC official Mr Oswald Banda about the remedial process of my house in Clayville extension 45. One of the question i have asked him was, how long is reasonable time is enough time to give a builder to rectify. The question was never answered and i was told that my house is getting first priority under lock-down restrictions which there is no progress on the house. Mr Oswald was notified of the issue with the builder that the builder wants to use damaged materials on my house, and he is not saying a word on the matter. I want to believe that indeed i will be protected as a consumer from bad workmanship, substandard materials and poor materials by NHBRC as per Housing Consumer Protection Measures Act, 1998 ( Act No. 95 of 1998) stated on their website. But with Mr Banda all is just a pie in the sky because he seems to be in agreement with Raubex the builder to use damaged materials yet they have used new structural timber roof, door frames, burglar bars, window frames, steel tubes for carport but they are failing to put in new Built-in-cupboards and roof sheeting for carport. It is very clear to me that Mr Banda is in agreement with the builder to use damaged materials. I have been moved out of my house since October 2019 till date i haven't moved back to my house because i refuse to accept damaged materials. Mr Banda by the look of things he is not even willing to solve this matter in any how and he doesn't care about the consumer as i'm still stuck for almost two years. I have communicated on several occasion that i'm not in a position to accept materials that are damaged where i have paid money for because of someone's fault. I'm in this situation because of the fault of the builder whom has to take full responsibility in fixing my house. All that i want is to have new BIC and IBR roof sheeting for the carport installed and all the relevant certificates handed in because the builder failed to provide the approved engineer's drawings. The pain of paying for a house for two years and never get to sleep in it is a very painful experience. Which means i'm paying for 20 years but get to stay in the house for 18 years while paying for it. It looks like NHBRC is no longer protecting consumers now. ***
