Very Disappointing Experience

We had a very unpleasant experience with Newlands Country Lodge.

Firstly, the location and access to the lodge were very concerning. The route to the property takes you through what felt like a very unsafe area, which made us extremely uncomfortable. The place is also not what it appears to be in the adverti*****ts, and the description online does not match the reality.

We made our booking the day before, but unfortunately we had an emergency on the day of arrival and had to cancel about 30 minutes before check-in. While we understand that establishments have cancellation policies, the policy here felt extremely unreasonable. There was no flexibility or understanding of the situation, and despite the short notice booking and the fact that we never even stayed there, no refund or even a partial refund was offered.

Because of the emergency, we had to continue driving straight to where we urgently needed to be and could not stop to deal with the situation further.

Afterwards, I noticed that many other guests seem to have had similar negative experiences, which is quite concerning.

Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not recommend staying here.
