Mistakenly ID as a *****...
This afternoon ....I was faced with a challenging case of mistaken identity...this time not as cop...or someone from West Africa ...but a *****?. This happened at a shop called New World in Menlyn. A security guard and a shop attendant (both black)...denied me entry at this store. Initially I though this is a hoax...as I am generally tolerant to jokers. But then I realized that this was actually rather serious???. Me being the older and wiser me...did not want to engage with such characters....I simply left the shop...because there are so many other shops who can appreciate to have the money I intended to use in buying a 65 inch tv. And I am also clued up with the golden rule of not arguing or engaging with security guards or generally people with lesser understanding or knowledge or intellect (this is me now...trying to be politically correct). But...the fire in me ( I have plenty) wanted me to adress this matter with the boss of that place....which I did three hours after the incident. The owner refered my concerns to his trusted white security person...who summoned this security guard in the monitor room. The security guard was adamant that I was there before and he apprehended me trying to ***** something. Both of these gentlemen refused to apologize for failing to posetively ID me as a suspect on their camera footage and wrongly turning me away from New World. This is rather unfortunate that this shop will never get any business from me....despite the owner who reluctanly gave me his half hearted apology on behalf of his employees. I still feel slightly ok that I got some apology....but I feel sorry for my own black guys who are at the centre of this.
