Insurance repudiation

My co worker David Maredi was insured by New National Proper Paid his premiums on 15th on every month.On the 4th January was involved in a motor vehicle accident.The insured car was damaged and he lodged a claim and submitted required documents.They repudiated his claim saying that he was insured for 15 days from the 15th to 30th of every month. He then took them to High court for litigation wherein the Judge ruled on his favor.They ordered them to pay storage fees,to repair the car and pay court costs.New National Prosper nearly ripped him off,what about others who cant litigate.
