New face cellular Westgate mall refund policy contradiction

Purchased a vape from their westgate mall branch on Monday, then the charger overheated and melted and caught a spark. We went back and they ddnt want to give my money back even tho I was within their seven days exchange policy... The manger said no return due to covid... All as well. But then he said he will send it for repairs... My point I'm trying to bring across... He was qk to throw out the covid law bt sending the vape back for repairs by someone else touching it? So conveniently no covid law?
