Horrible Netgear Experience (AX5400)
I bought a high quality expensive router, the hardware is great, but the software is horrible, there's no way to disable WPS, a lot of features seem to be missing (which I initially just assumed was an attempt at minimalism), but worst of all is not the software or the hardware, it's the business decisions that have been made to make sure you do not truly own the product and the horrible support that's required as a result of such crippling business decisions.
You need an account to set up the router and if you even dare ask a family member to set it up for you and they use their email, you might as well say goodbye to a very important security feature of the router. It's a hassle to transfer the router from 1 account to another on MyNetgear, but for Netgear Armor, it seems like none of the support agents know what to do. I've had a ticket ongoing for a while and have received extremely slow responses for a request to transfer the router to my account. After 2 different agents told me they've transferred my router to my account with no change whatsoever, the ticket was closed.
Save yourself the hassle, if you want to buy the Netgear AX5400, just go for the Asus RT-AX82U which doesn't seem to have these issues and does indeed have 6 streams (MU-MIMO 6x6).
The support period for this router is also 3 months which is incredibly short and makes no sense.
Still don't know if I would recommend Netgear products in future, but I would at least not agressively campaign against their routers.
