Next Biosciences is a ****
It is a disgrace that Next Biosciences does not live up to it's promise of being a professional provider for stem cells and storage facility. I was charged R4000 as a deposit which I understood however after a grueling process of the cells being collected from the hospital they then tell me that the Doctors did not collect enough blood. As a new mom having to be treated like trash I really failed to understand why they do not brief doctors properly about how they want the blood to be drawn. When I asked for my money back or a portion of it due to the fact that they proclaimed that the sample failed they slapped me with the contract and refused to pay me back. I was going through post partum blues and the lady was just not willing to understand. Please please don't use these guys!!!
There are different circumstances that could have contributed to this, from how you accessed your collection kit, the type of birth, the collection process etc. The costs we incur substantially exceed the R4000 deposit payment, which only partly covers the collection costs and courier. We have additionally incurred all the lab processing costs in which we extracted the stem cells for storage. Prior to storing we test the cells to establish adequate volume and viability. Unfortunately, sometimes these do not meet our storage requirements for transplant (again, there are a number of different contributing factors, mainly biological which are not in our control) and despite this, we do not believe that it is right to charge you for storage. In these instances, we absorb the lab processing fee, which is a loss to us. It is therefore not in our interest to fail any sample.
