Vanilla Ice-cream flavoured Cremora

<p>In 1999 I was diagnosed as Lactose intolerant and my doctor suggested that I use Cremora as a substitute, and I took his advice. For about 14 years everything went well, and then Nestle's new packaging advised the consumers that Cremora now had a "Great new taste"! It turns out the the new taste was reminiscent of vanilla. Upon enquiry Nestle advised me that the new product was there to stay so I changed to Ellis Brown Coffee Creamer which I found was identical to the "original" Cremora!</p> <p>Recently I went to a supermarket to replenish my stock of Ellis Brown, but I noticed that the packaging on Cremora stated "original", so I decided to buy a box, only to discover that it wasn't the original but still the vanilla powder. I wrote to Nestle and asked them to arrange with the supermarket in question to either refund me or exchange the Cremora for Ellis Brown as I had opened the box and had also disposed of the receipt. Nestle decided that a better option was to give me a voucher for R60.00 (a very kind gesture, I thought) so that I could buy Nestle Coffee or Cremora. This is where their kind gesture and good common sense part company. Firstly I do not use instant (plastic) coffee and I told them so in the survey they asked me to complete, and secondly, how do they solve my problem by selling me more of the vanilla powder. I wrote to them and posed these two questions but to-date they have not bothered to answer me. I then reminded them that I was still awaiting a suitable response to my last letter and I also told them that if there was no further communication from them that I would put this "out there"! It seems that Nestle have decided that they don't really care too much about my problem. in the meantime I have made an interesting observation; Ellis Brown coffee creamer was always a little cheaper than Cremora, but the prices were more or less the same at last glance, and in fact sometimes Ellis Brown is a little more expensive. Would this suggest that more people are buying Ellis Brown Coffee Creamer? It is supported by a little informal survey that I undertook in a Checkers Hypermarket and a Pick 'n Pay Supermarket, where to my surprise some people actually agreed with me that Cremora tasted like vanilla!!! I wonder why Nestle would want to change the taste of perfectly good ground coffee to that of vanilla ice-cream?</p>
