NeoSmart

My security system was acting up and I needed someone who specialises on the brand to have a look as the security company that did the install a year prior were not attentive to my needs when called.

On the 30th of May 2021, I went onto google and found www.neosmart.co.za who specialise on the system. The website looks legit and from the first contact, there was plenty of communication around the issue experienced. An appointment was made soon after where a gentleman who identified himself as Brian came through and had a look at my system. He performed a firmware upgrade and requested that I monitor so I paid him to which he said let him know how it was going. That same evening the same problem was experienced so I made contact. He came out a few times after that attempting to resolve the issue with no avail.

On the 15th of June, an intruder entered my property and stole two of my Takex 180 degree beams. At the time, I was fami**** with Brian and decide to give him business by requesting a quote to replace these beams. It took some time as he was waiting on the “supplier”. The quote provided first read R3425 for 180 degree beams then stated for the ones like mine is R3000 including vat. I gave him the go ahead for the two with a deposit of 3800 and he came out to install then paid the balance of 2850. While installing them he misrepresented one of the beams saying it was a different type of 180 degree beam and that the red sensor light does not come on for this type because I could see a visible difference from the one I had. I didn’t think anything of it at the time. Brian further advised there are beam anti-theft brackets available for these beams. After losing two and them being so expensive, on the 18th of June I gave him the go ahead to purchase the brackets paying a total of R2394 for the brackets and an extra 300 for fuel. He came through to install them and while he was there he got a call from his “supplier” to say the brackets he has are for the different type of Takex beams. He went out and came back with two bracket for my beams. He said the “supplier” will have the rest the next day. Till present day I’ve still not received the brackets and during this time I’ve requested a refund several times to which he says he needs more time and me with my ultimatums to resolve. While this was going on my security system was a mess with the following issues:

- The security company was receiving tampering signals

- One of the beams that was replaced was stuck on open so it’s useless if you need that zone armed.

- The loss of connection for the beams with either the main panel or the repeater.

I finally got in contact with the supplier for the security brand I have and they provided me with an installer in the area. I took the installer through the scenario of what had occurred and he advised me that the beams installed by NeoSmart appear to be second-hand as they had previous mount holes and the beam that I could see a physical difference was in fact a 90 degree beam.
