ICT Missionvale Campus

I'm a registered part-time students at Nelson Mandela University. On Wednesday 23/08/2017 I went to Missionvale Campus to update my settings for the Student WiFi.

Upon my arrival there was no one at the ICT info desk to assist with my enquiry. I then asked the lady at the security point if there was no one to assist. The lady told me to look for a gentleman by the name of 'Charlie'. Charlie was nowhere to be found. I even asked for his personal cell number. I called but he did not answer. I then went to a person by the name of "Siya" for assistance. After waiting for about 5min in the queue I realised he was playing Chess with another individual. I asked "Siya" where do I go if I want to update my settings. I was told that my Windows software on my laptop was not compatible and I would be charger R200 for an upgrade. I didn't like the attitude and sarcasm I received from "Siya".

I then went to a gentleman by the name of Gavin, I was told he was the Head of ICT for this campus. I told him what had happened. I went back and was told it would take about 3hours to complete. I still received the same sarcasm and attitude.

I then went back to Mr Gavin as this "Siya" guy kept on leaving his office saying he was going to his lunch break. I informed him of what happened.

After my second visit to Mr Gavin, the guy name Charlie came and took over.

The point I am trying to raise by raising this complaint is that I shouldn't have received the treatment I got, infact any student doesn't deserve the treatment /service I got. Nelson Mandela University like any other institution has a set of core values that each student and employee should adhere to. The way my situation was handled was completely unacceptable.

Even if someone was to go to the ICT department now or any day during the week, there is no one there to assist.
