Pricing structure that doesnt make sense - YOU PAY MORE TO BE AT MORE RISK

Firstly to just be clear and frank - no information was hidden or was I misinformed. I am just troubled with the practices of the agency and the developer, which I find to be very unfair from a consumer point of view.

They are renting out units for R9,500 on units with balconies - so floor 1 and up (lets for now ignore that the board outside the unit says rent starts R9,200 - and was told all units are identical - but ok lets leave that). I find it odd that the ground floor unit is R9,800 - more expensive than other units but yet there is no covered garden for the ground unit (it is just a free flowing grass that you cant really do much with). But the worst of it all is that the sliding door has NO SECURITY DOOR/Bulgar bars - I find this extremely dissatisfying because of a number of reasons: 1. You pay more to rent out the unit 2. There are burglars on the windows -- yet the easiest most spacious access to the house (sliding door) has no burglar bars. 3. I was informed as I took the keys that there have been break in complaints in the past --- but yet they don't see the need to install burglar bars. 4. It is the tenants cost to install burglar bars which go for around R7,000 BUT YET THE RENT for that unit is more. I really cant get over this.

My issue more than anything is about FAIRNESS to the consumer - outside of the developer and the property agent making a fat margin on the property, I fail to see what rational reason is there to have structured the rent in this way.

This is really bugging me - someone perhaps provide a rational that I can say, ok that makes sense. I am sad to see this is how business is done.

And fair enough one can say demand and supply, there was too much demand so we increased prices --- but why increase the prices to a unit where safety is worst of others?
