I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with National Radiology Services (NRS) in Springs. The main issue is not the account itself, but the manner in which the matter has been handled while there is still an ongoing dispute with my medical aid. I am currently awaiting feedback from my medical aid regarding the claim, as I was advised there were allegedly insufficient funds available for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital benefits. This should not be the case, and I am actively trying to resolve the matter with my medical aid. Despite this, I received communication from NRS demanding payment within 7 days, with the deadline highlighted in bold. I found this threatening and unnecessarily aggressive, especially considering that the matter has not yet been resolved with the medical aid. To make matters worse, I never received what I would consider an initial account notification or reasonable opportunity to address the matter before these demands began. Instead, my husband received a phone call and an email last week demanding payment. As a patient, I feel there should be a fair process that allows time to investigate and resolve disputes with a medical aid before threatening collection-style communications are sent. I have dealt with other radiology providers in Springs who have been understanding, professional, and willing to assist while medical aid queries were being investigated. Unfortunately, this has not been my experience with NRS. I believe the tone and approach used by the accounts department were unprofessional and lacked empathy for a patient who is actively trying to resolve a billing issue. I would encourage NRS to review how they communicate with patients, particularly when medical aid disputes are still under investigation. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in customer service and patient communication going forward.
