Inhumane living conditions/ ******* eviction practices

On the 09th of August we responded to an ad on OLX. We went to view the place and was interested. Our family, (My partner, myself and two school kids and baby) moved into a flat that is under someone else's name, someone who ******* us into the flat because he was trying to get out of the lease and trying to get his money back (from us) because he moved to another area (or so he said), someone that never told us that National Letting doesn't do proper administration on the flat, especially the fact that they don't even pay the rates or get the owner to pay rates at the municipality and that electricity to the unit always gets disconnected and the tenant has to foot the bill- every time, someone who had gripe and was planning to take National Letting to court to get his money back. We were told that since we have already moved into the unit, names will be changed on the lease. No admin fee was communicated, no credit checks were discussed. All of sudden that was going to happen.

On the 28th of September 2017, our electricity turns off because of rates arrears not paid by the landlord, although we were up to date on the electricity account. National Letting, as usual wasn't interested in assisting. The guy that got into the unit wanted out and gave us 3 days to move out. Desperate to get us out, he got us locked out of the unit by putting something metallic into the lock and also turned off the water supply, removing the lever. We managed to get back into the flat later that night. The following day the guy comes back with 7 street ****s, to throw our stuff out, everything was outside the flat, upon getting back into the unit, I called the National Letting office manager, who spoke to me very rudely asking if we had no conscience and that we shouldn't be on the property in the first place even after explaining to her how we ended up in the property . Later that day, an agent from National Letting came back with the tenant and more ****s who each carried a ***** driver. My first thought would be that National Letting would talk their client away from such dangerous and ******* practices, not be encouraging it. Instead they have encouraged this kind of behaviour.

This is the kind of unprofessional behaviour that we have experienced from National Letting we have experienced from National Letting.

Needless to say, we are still in the unit and the electricity is still off. Should our safety be threatened again, National letting will be held accountable. #disappointed
