Dishonest agents

We took over the lease on a property from National Letting October 2018, their representative Susanna Becker doesn’t seem to care for tenants or their needs on the property that they handle, we were left without lights for 3 weeks at the beginning of the lease, we queried consistently but we did not get any proper response, we had to resort to staying at an Airbnb so we could live in proper conditions, we lost food that was in our freezer, at the time Susanna said to use ice pack. We could not live on the property du to my wife being pregnant although we had paid our rent, the electricity was cut due to the electicity box being rigged before we arrived there, National Letting knew of this issue and when queried with Susannah she said that we need to get our expenses back from Eskom which I am sure will not pay us as the electricity was rigged. During December 2018 l the pol had an ingestion issue due to the pump being broken with multiple leaks , also again an issue prior to when we had arrived. We paid from our own pocket to try and get this sorted out as Susannah did not respond to fixing it, when it was fixed she said they won’t pay for it as that is not the process but we could not go through December with the pool in such an unhygenic condition. Especially having visitors etc and not having them respond to us. Then recently the geyser broke, we waited 2 weeks for them to fix the geyser, 2 weeks is a long time to live without hot water. Again another inconvenience not any fault of ours. Without a geyser and having followed up numerous times with them we found out from the person that fitted the geyser that they hadn’t paid him from the previous job that’s why he didn’t come sooner. They seem to have just one person doing everything for them, if we need an inspector, she sends out her son, pest control, locks, etc. the same guy ... and the work is below par Now they refuse the bring through the initial inspector as he knew the condition the house was in, Susannah’s son did the inspection now after informing us in April we needed to be out by end May as tge hous has been sold. To be left homeless with a 10 week old is a scary thought. My lease was up to until September2019, with my rental always being paid timeously, until April. The problem with National Letting run under Susanna, is that they are unaccomodating, unfair and unwilling to help tenants and we do not recommend anyone working with them, it is a terrible situation that you can take legally but will take you too much of time to get through and they know this so they just exploit you as a tenant From a legal stand point that is *******, to kick a tenant out without sufficient time frame to find another house, so if they know that this is ******* for them to put on a contract and they make you sign it ... it makes you question the business that Susanna and her team run, and still rob you more by taking the little you have left.
