NHLS delaying results - my son cannot get a birth certificate

Im South African and my husband is a foreign national as such, government requires that one does a paternity test before issuing a birth certificate. My son was born in July 2018 and we were referred to NHLS by Department of Home Affairs Centurion - we did the tests in August and we were told the results would be ready on the 1st week of December. I called in and I was told there is a backlog and results will be available on the 1st week of January - I called today (being the 7th of January) I was told I must call back in February. My frustration is that I cant even find my child a decent nursery school - neither can I get him onto my medical aid because he doesnt have an ID number. I cant even travel with him as I please. NHLS is not doing us a favour we paid them in full for this service - there isnt even courtesy to give a heads up to say there is a backlog before hand.
