Blacklisted

I was under debt review 7/8 years ago when i signed up I was working and a few months later was retrenched. I was then unable to pay my debt and had no income. No contact was made by my debt counsellors and had received no communication at all. I did an inquiry last month and i was told to pay R12000 for them to remove my name. Their are various companies that can assist to have your name cleared at a hefty amount of R6000+upwards and guarantee for your name to be cleared in 21days. I do not understand why go that route as i though NCR would be able to assist. As far as I know and I do think all SA knows this that your debt gets prescribed between 3-5years, whether it was paid up or not, it has been since 2017 that no one made contact and i am still listed. I approached NCR and was told that they unable to assist. I thought them being the NATIONAL CREDIT REGULATOR they would be the Company to assist but clearly not. Maybe I am missing something not sure what though, my understanding would be that they NCR and would assist maybe I am being ******** not knowing the Credit Act. Please note the NCA does not make provision for a complainant to be cleared from debt review upon being declared over indebted, therefore a person can only exit debt review if he/she has duly satisfied all his/her obligations under debt review (section 71 of the National Credit Act), and when a debt counsellor, has conducted an assessment to verify same to issue a clearance certificate. Please make sure that all paid up letter are provided to the debt counsellor for verification purposes.
