Nando's Silverlakes is a Shebeen
I leave in Faerie Glen and the nearest Nandos to me is the Nandos at Glen Village. I decided to try out the "new" Nandos in Silverlakes, and at first I was impressed that it's young people, secondly I was impressed that they are South Africans, since the un employment rate is high among young South Africans, and I thought "well done Nandos." Considering that the one in Glen Village and the one in Garsfontein (my favorite Nandos restaurant) has a lot of expatriates However, I was badly mistaken about my perception, experience and expectations of a quality service and decent customer service from Nandos in Silverlakes.
1. Nandos employees were making a lot of noise talking amongst themselves. It was as if they were competing with background music. In a space of 5 minutes, the Supervisor told them at least 3 times that they were making noise and that there's customers in the shop, and they just ignored him. 2. The table next to the door had drink spills on it and on the floor, and the dirty plates were not removed for almost 10 minutes, as a result this exacerbated the flies in the restaurants. Yet,the restaurant had more than 5 employees in the front, standing around talking loud, and joking to each other. 3. They were too many flies and I requested a flies repellent and I was told that the shop does not have any.
I came to the conclusion that most South Africans do not respect their jobs and yet they complain about "foreigners taking their jobs." I am disappointed, disgusted and appalled by the behavior of the employees of Nandos Silverlakes.
