Avoid this "courier" at all costs. After ordering and paying for a replacement engine for one of our companies fleet vehicles which included free shipping the courier contacted me stating an additional R5700.00 had to be paid over to them before they will make delivery. R2550.00 + VAT for a "refundable" insurance fee (stated our company already has insurance on goods as we ship big heavy equipment on a daily basis) and seeing as its refundable on delivery this fee wont be a problem and can be removed as the company has its own insurance. Then 1200 + vat for "police clearance" Which a courier company cannot do on behalf of the person buying the engine as the procedure to do a police clearance on a replacement engine is as follows. “1.Traffic Department Referral: You must first visit a local motor vehicle registration authority or traffic department to apply for a Request for Police Clearance (RPC). (we already have these forms) 2.SAPS Inspection: Take the vehicle along with the RPC form, your ID, vehicle registration papers (NaTIS), and the original proof of purchase/invoice for the replacement engine to an official SAPS Vehicle Clearance Unit. (does the courier have the NATIS and our company fleet registration information ? ) 3.Microdot Verification: The vehicle must be fitted with microdots as legally required for clearance. 4.Final Update: Once SAPS approves the engine number and updates the eNaTIS system, you return to the traffic department to amend your registration papers. SO please explain to me how a courier company is going to do police clearance on a vehicle / engine replacement that does not belong to them ? Further more their total does not add up R1200 + 15%vat (R180) = R1380 R2550 + 15%vat (R382.50) = R2932.5 R1380 + R2932.50 = R4312.50 So where does the total of R5700 come from ??? Charging for services they cannot provide, with promises of a partial "refund" to try and ease peoples minds into paying these made up fees. Avoid using them at all cost.
