Poor customer service

I recently had a baby shower and received a nappy cake. In the nappy cake were newborn items but the labels were removed due to it being part of the cake. I took them to the naartjie store in Cavendish, told the sales lady i received these items as gifts and was told sorry, no receipt no exchange... Where the hell must i pull a receipt from if these items were given to me as gifts... I also asked if i could exchange 2 other gift items with labels attached to them and was told the same thing.. No receipt no exchange. It clearly shows the naartjie logo and these items were not worn before. I cannot understand why naartjie because of a namebrand thinks that they are exclusive to stores such as woolies and truworths.. Exchanging my baby shower gifts at these stores were a breeze. Never again will a support a store such a naartjie.. They are all about their brand but do not see to their customers needs.
