Personal information needed

Do anyone know why your ID number or driver's license is needed when buying from Naartjie and EarthChild children's clothing? We shared similar experiences at TygerValley, and Canalwalk. Regardless of whether you pay with cash or bank card, they still require your name, address, phone number, and for some unclear reason, proof of identity. Their return policy does not offer a cash refund; you must select a different item, so why is all this personal info needed.
