No accountability for poor workmanship

I had a steering column that leaked steering fluid on a Mahindra Bolero bakkie. N4 Suspension and Steering reconditioned the steering rack replacing seals and confirming that the shaft was in a good condition in late September 2024. The recon costed R 5 755 and they gave a 6 month warrantee.

In January 2025 (about 4 months later) I was driving from Nelspruit to Pretoria to sell the vehicle. On the way, the steering rack started leaking steering fluid to the extent that I had to stop every 10 minutes to refill the reservoir. I contacted N4 Steering and they asked me to keep the slips for the steering fluid I bought and that they would refund this along with the repair costs in Pretoria. Noticing that the power steering pump ran on its own belt, I cut ted the belt to prevent any damage to the pump on the way to Pretoria. In the end, I traded in the vehicle as is at a lower price due to the steering rack leaking fluid.

N4 Steering said they will pay me back the money I originally paid for reconditioning the steering rack. Afterwards they refused to refund me because they wanted the chance to do another recon on the steering rack. They did not even want to refund a portion of the original costs.

I suppose if you are only travelling around Nelspruit you can still use N4 Steering, but be aware that they do not keep their warrantees and that it might cost you a lot extra if something happens while you are on the road. I would not recommend them due to the poor after sales service and because they did not keep their promises or attempt to keep their warrantee.
