Poor service and attitude

MyCiti buses

The MyCiti bus service should be a great transport service. It has great infrastructure but it is undermined by operators that are not serious about delivering an international standard of service.

On 5 November 2016, I was waiting at the Nobel Square Bus stop at the Waterfront for the 13:10 bus. The bus arrived, slowed down, and then the bus driver merely looked at me and continued on his way.

I then had to wait until 14:24 for the next bus. This time there were five (4) of us: Myself, a German tourist (whom I spoke to afterwards) and a couple.

Again, the bus driver slowed down, looked at us, and then, inexplicably, decided not to stop but to continue driving. Everybody was dumbfounded by this behaviour. The bus was nearly empty on both occasions. I then had to walk to the main Waterfront bus stop and managed to get the 14:56 bus to the Civic Centre. So, I eventually got a bus almost two hours late.

So, what is going on here? This is an obvious dereliction of duty and complete lack of respect for customers making use of the MyCiti bus service.

Individuals that do not want to serve should not work with the public. It gives the organisation and the City a bad name internationally, thus undoing a lot of the good work done by the Minister of Tourism, local Tourism organisations, etc.

In general MyCiti drivers are curt, surly and abrupt. They often drive too fast; drive through red lights and are mostly late. A few are friendly when you greet them at the start of journey and thank them afterwards. Some just ignore you.

Why?

Kind regards as always,

Gargantua.
