MyCiti ********** TRANSACTION
On July 30 2019 when I used the myciti service, I was billed in excess of R60. This bill was incurred on my personal Nedbank account. I went to the Civic Centre to enquire about this and was told this sometimes occurs when a contactless payment enabled (hereinafter referred to as CPE) card and a myconnect card - which is defined as a bank card on its own in the New User's Guide 2019 - are in close proximity. I use a cardholder to carry all my cards.
I was wrongfully charged as nowhere in the New User's Guide 2019 is it mentioned, that should a myconnect card be in close proximity to another CPE card, there is the possibility of erroneous billing.
This should not have happened, as it defeats the purpose of getting a myconnect card if I could simply pay with my bank card. I was also informed at the Civic Centre that an error like this only explicitly happens when a myconnect card and another CPE card are in close proximity. I was told that the system does not accept any other card except for a myconnect card, and that if I tried to use my personal bank card to access the service, it will not allow me.
This is an error not on my behalf but rather that of the payment system. I was SHOCKED to find out that this was possible in the first place and that the employee at the Civic Centre Information Desk knew about this error and it still has not been rectified till this day.
Months after emails, I still have not been refunded.
