Beware of MyCars online auction purchases.

I bought a Standard Bank repossessed vehicle on auction on the MyCars website. When the invoice was sent through it had been intercepted and the account details had been changed so I ended up paying R431 875 into the account of a ********* instead of into the MyCars bank account. When I spoke to Stephen Kruger who deals with all the car auctions and finalization of deals, he said that he would cancel the sale as I did not have the money to pay for the vehicle. He also said that he would have my deposit of R5000 refunded. There was very little sympathy and very little shock at what had just happened to me. I asked to speak to someone in senior management and was told that they were in back to back meetings the rest of the day. I asked for someone senior to call me and he said that James Deacon would contact me. That never happened. I tried the other office number which is answered by MyRoof staff and tried to find out what their physical address is. I was told that they were all working remotely...and never got the address out of them as they simply transfer you to Stephen. On another attempt to contact senior management I got the email address of James Deacon. I really thought that if a company had such a serious incident that they would like to know about it and investigate it too. Mr Deacon responded and said that I would not get my deposit back as I had not taken the vehicle and that their company does not condone ***** and that they have very tight security measures in place for their emails and their staff. This seems to be something that does not concern them...the fact that one of their customers has lost this kind of money and worse...that their emails may not be as secure as they think. So I am saying, BEWARE when buying online from MyCars because if something goes wrong, there is no support from their side.
