Stay away from NOT My Debt Hero

I call them NOT My Debt Hero. Due to mismanagement of payments, my home loan has gone into arrears. I reported this to them and after weeks of battling, i still do not have a definitive reply. I requested that I pay my own creditors as arranged with them and they cancelled my debt review, even though I remain flagged. I got the following in an email: "Herewith please find attached, form 17.W Suspended suspending our debt counselling services. This does not mean that you are no longer under debt review. This means your accounts no longer have the protection of debt review. We remain your debt counsellor on record and will assist you if you contact us regarding your debt review application. I trust the above is in order." When I looked at the Form 17 W, the reason they give is as follows: "The Debt counsellor has suspended provision of service due to non-cooperation by the Consumer. The Debt counsellor remains Debt counsellor on record." I queried this, and the reply I got was: "We have been trying to contact you to no avail. Please be advise that we can not assist you with your request as you have cancelled our services. We do not have power of attorney to request these documents I would advise that you make direct contact with your creditors." I am waiting for paid up letters, and a response how a debt review company can allow my home loan to go into arrears.

Hi Karen, we’re very sorry to hear about your experience and the stress it has caused. Debt review is regulated by the National Credit Regulator (NCR), and legal processes such as the Form 17.W are part of those requirements. That said, you should never feel unsupported or left without clarity, especially when it comes to your home loan. We would like to urgently review your case and provide you with a detailed explanation and way forward. Please contact our Customer Care Team via https://mydebthero.co.za/support, call (+27)21 ***, WhatsApp ***, or email *** so we can assist you directly.
