Stay away from My Debt Hero!!!!

I voluntarily engaged with My Debt Hero, to see what options we have seeing that the interest rate keeps on rising.

Took the call and spoke to a consultant. Ended the call and then...

My Debt Hero started a debt review process before finalising the monthly affordability amount with me.

They did not bother to do a proper affordability check. Did not bother to go through my bank statements first and then come back to me. Did not bother to check if my wife's bank account has an overdraft on it (I explicitly said I don't want my wife's account to be affected in any way). Did not bother to explain what would happen if you have an overdraft on your account.

Just the initial call, quick check and off we went into the debt review process with an amount I could not afford.

Within two days all our credit accounts and overdrafts were blocked.

When I noticed the SMS coming through that I'm in the process of being put under debt review I immediately contacted My Debt Hero to try and stop the process as I could not afford that amount.

My impression was that My Debt Hero would go through my bank statements first, see what I would be able to afford and come back to me to discuss the amount as the initial amount is just a starting point. That was not the case.

This whole process and experience with My Debt Hero WAS/IS a mess.

Eventually they got the application rejected on their side but the status on NCR's side was not updated accordingly.

Eventually the status got updated on NCR's side as rejected.

Now I am technically not under debt review and the flag has been lifted but My Debt Hero has not notified my debtors.

So currently we are still stuck without any access to our credit.

Currently no feedback from My Debt Hero on this...

Long story short, they are very quick to get the process started but apparently not so quick to stop and rectify the mess they have caused.

Good day Dylan. Our proposed instalment to your credit providers would have saved you almost R7000 a month at reduced interest rates. Other companies my offer you lower amounts but your credit providers will not accept that and will not reduce your interest rates. Our offices follow the guidelines and regulations of the NCR and we act in the best interest of our clients and ensure a reasonable offers are made to credit providers that will lead to the eventual satisfaction of the outstanding debt. We have provided you with proof that your application was rejected.

You did not do a proper affordability check and you did not notify my Debtors to revert everything back to normal...
