Information not given properly

Hi there I've been dealing with these lovely ppl and I sent through all my documents thinking everything was, settled because my debit orders go off. They told me that they sending relevant info docs to lawyers and that's about it, now I have lawyers calling me requesting more personal info and having to go to court to have commissioner of paths to have an affidavit signed. I feel like none of this was explained to me. I'm highly annoyed and I want to tell them to go to hell.
