STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

WORST INSURER!!!!! I purchased a Trojan treadmill from Makro where I was offered an extended warranty underwritten by Old Mutral. 8 weeks ago it broke. The treadmill has a 130kg weight rating and the heaviest person who uses the treadmill weights 75kg.

It took a whole 8 weeks for Makro to get a technician to see to the machine. The technician looked at the machine and said the entire frame had broken and the board was actually separating from the frame. He completed a damage report and sent it to Old Mutral, who have subsequently rejected the claim on the basis of; 1. This is cosmetic damage (the machine is not safe to use) 2. The damage is due to owners neglect (as previously mentioned the machine has a weight bearing of 130kg)- there is also no explanation as to how we, as owners have neglected the item. These very logical points were brought to the attention of the claims dispute department at Old Mutral who have now advised it will take 5-6 WEEKS to investigate.

This is a rather simple matter as well as a low value claim. I would hate to know what it would be like claiming for a high value item such as a vehicle. As many people have mentioned on Hello Peter Old Mutral seem to spend more money, time and effort in trying NOT to pay your claims.

PLEASE NEVER USE them, rather use an insurer like Discovery Insure, far better service, no nonsense excuses and trying to drag time on so the client eventually gets tired of fighting and drops things all together.
