Refusing a claim

Whilst visiting family in the free state over the long weekend of the 26th of September we drove from Polokwane to Virginia which is 500km and were still on the road after dark we heard a loud noise like I drove over something in the road I am not sure what it was and as this road passes a informal settlement and is not safe to stop, we only checked the vehicle when we got to a garage where we saw it is safe to stop. on inspection I found that the front wheel had a severe bump on it. the next morning I phoned my insurance broker and told him I don't think it is safe to drive the long distance back to Polokwane with this tyre and what else damage there might be.At Auto quip the tyres , rims and checked there was only the damage to the one tyre and the wheel alignment were out. they tried to source a tyre but could not find one as it was Saturday and we need to return home to Polokwane on Sunday they could however get a slightly broader tyre but could not fit only one as it will influence the handling of the car now my claim is not accepted because there is only damage to the tyre and shows no impact point and that they pay for damages only to the tyre
