OLD MUTUAL INSURED - Terrible experience

My Experience has been terrible. I am claiming as a third party, and firstly it took them 24-48 hours to generate a claim number for their insured - I then followed up and got the claim number from the person that drove into us.

OMI then confirmed that they need to still send the file to Liabilities before I could lodge my claim as the third party. So Monday 09/07/2018 the accident happened and Thursday I got the claim number and called. I was sent from pillar to post on the call and spoke to 6 different people each with their own version of what needs to happen. I then got through to Sue-Nelle August and she was so helpful explained the process to me and sent me the doc that has the details on of what I need to send, where...

On 18/07/2018 I sent all the required doc's - at least I thought I had. No one called to say they needed something and when I called to ask - Amina Ibrahim hadn't reviewed the file and thus were not able to assist me - she did however tell me that if I want faster service its easy - "just claim through your own insurance" - I expressed that I do not wish to have my premiums and excess affected based on their client’s inability to focus on the road.

I gave time to have the file reviewed as I understand it may take some time, the 23rd I called and asked if the file was reviewed - I spoke to a Marc - he advised that the file was transferred to a new advisor and that they were just waiting for the Natis paper. I asked him why did no one let me know. He was unable to answer...

After a lot of back and forth - between the independent appointed assessor and the admin handler I was finally transferred to the negotiations team. Here I have been dealing with Beulah Theunis. The total damage to my car is R151 000 - after their assessor looked at photos he determined that there should be things removed from the quote and the final quote he determined was R131 000. I asked why he had not come out to look at the car - and there was no answer to give.

I finally got an offer from Beulah - R94 000.00 noting that we are partly to blame for the accident as we should not enter a green light intersection if it is not safe. Their client skipped a red light, hit our car on the passenger doors (so the car was quite a bit into the intersection when the accent happened) and then admitted that he was not focusing and his boss also told him what an idiot he was for not driving properly. I fail to see why we are partly to blame when he accepted 100% that he was at fault? I would like a response from OMI regarding this as I am so disgusted - not even my own insurance and one would think they would treat you better to possible have you as a client one day!
