Hello Peter, I am very disappointed and ashamed how the so trusted giant entity can be humiliating like this. 1stly the car accident occurred on the 18th of May 2026, yet until 9th of June 2026 they haven't resolved their claim adequately so. 2ndly I had

09 Jun 2026, 05:17 2ndly I had to run around pay for panel beaters' assessors to come inspect my vehicle at my position because my car couldn't drive in that condition, when they've requested 2 quotations so that they can proceed with my claim. Time and again I had to call them to hear how far is the process because everytime after emailing them back filled forms, there is no acknowledgement of receipt from their side which I requested, only Mr Hlatshwayo did so. Thirdly and last which is the most embarrassing, they finally decided on the settlement offer of the claim. Out of the two quotations that was validated, they opted not to fully pay any but instead they summarized their conclusion as that " my car was uneconomically repairable" (what a sneaky way of finding ways not to make a full settlement of either of the quotation validated). They instead formulated a way of meeting their costs and not mine, that was taking the current market value of the car and minus it with the salvage (current market value after accident). I was particularly well with it but they further deduct a 40% on that amount claiming its for merits I didn't cover on the situation, when they even failed to settle any of the validated quotations.

09 Jun 2026, 07:06They summarized their merit 40% deduction was on due to that " although I had a right of way I still have to be reasonable to the danger that might occur on the road" theoretically they are correct but practically how wasn't I reasonable and cautious when "although I still on have the right if of way, another driver bumped into my car with speed to at least do anything, hence my vehicle was damaged in a way they concluded it as" uneconomically repairable". Futhermore even after I've stopped my car after the accident, the other driver still forcefully pushed my car with theirs trying to find a way and simultaneously drove away (run away). As traumatized and hurt as I was, as well as my car in that condition, I stil manged to chase the driver in a pursuit, thats when they stopped. Tell me in the right manner where wasn't I reasonable enough and cautious according to them in "that situation" , for them to have deducted 40% of merits off that settlement when they even failed to have settled any of the 2 quotations but methodize salvage methods which they still can't honour in fully. What a humiliating disgrace.

In conclusion, I did send send them an email, I am awaiting their response.Should it transpire negatively I will endulge my legal representative to argue their merits penalties which may unfold in them having to settle any of the 2 quotations and perhaps legal cost when they failed to at least honour their salvage methodized settlement in full without deduction of any merits, but I will give you a feedback Peter.

11 Jun 2026, 14:47Hello Peter
I would like to give a feedback regarding the matter. I have received the panctual correspondence lately . They revised the matter and carefully reconsidered my objections regarding the settlement offer.
They however a little bit fairly raised the bar and thus consensus was met respectively. I am just awaiting the finalization of their settlement as prescribed.
Thank you to the Old Mutual Insure and thank you very much Peter. I will surely revert back to you as soon as the whole process is completed with due regard.
