EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTED IN ELSIE DA SILVA BROKERS AND OLD MUTUAL
On 28 November 2022 I submitted a claim for damages caused by burst angle valves. Simunye plumbers were assigned by the insurance company to fix the burst valves. They were extremely *********** as they wanted me to provide them with the material to repair the burst valves. I had to find a plumber myself to do the repairs and I had to pay for the repairs. 10 days after the incident an assessor came to assess the damages to my cupboards and laminating floors. Before he left he asked if he could measure my house for FUTURE REFERENCE. I didn't have a problem with his request, little did I know that these measurements were going to be used against me. A cash payment offer was made and an AVERAGE OF 21% (R6067.05) as well as R1000.00 EXESS was deducted. Instead of R28 010. 39 an amount of R 20 943. 34 was now going to be paid to me. I contacted my broker to asked why the 21% were deducted and I was told by her that I was under-insured. I was confused as I was never informed by Old Mutual or the Broker that I was under-insured. Apparently the measurements done by the assessor for FUTURE REFERENCE were used to determine that I was under-insured. This AVERAGE was only explained to me in January 2923 by my broker. I submitted a claim for damages to my roof in December 2020, no measurements were taken and there was no word about me being Under Insured. When I mentioned all my concerns to my Broker she made excuses for herself and for Old Mutual saying that they have the right to deduct money and that assessors were lazy in the past therefore I was not aware that I was under- insured. I thought that brokers were suppose to look for the best interest of their clients, I got the worst. I learnt that when it comes to money being paid to clients, the client is always WRONG.
