Old Mutual has a subsidiary company called MVIA that operates under the Name Motor Plan Direct. Here is where they are *****ing money from the public. Robbing the public blind by selling them Extended Motor Plans as "Service Plans and Warrantees". A great cover up as you are guaranteed they will not pay out when you need it most. I took out an extended warrantee for my Jeep grand Cherokee. In February I tried to claim for a key. My key stopped working and nobody to tell me why. I took the car to two different Jeep dealers. All they could say was the key is broken, and it needs to be replaced at R12600.00. They told me that they do not have electrical engineers working on components to explain why it was broken, they said it could have dropped or even could have got vapor into its mechanism. They had no specific reason why it wasn't working. In my policy It was only covered for R3000 and was called a transponder Key. The quotes called it a remote-control FOB and a remote. Immediately MVIA shot the claim down stating that they didn't cover a FOB (Not knowing the difference). I explained to them that it had various different names. Eventually after a week's fighting, they came back to me and apologized for not knowing the difference. Now this claim has been going on for over a month. I needed my car repaired as I need the use of the car. So, I paid to have the repairs carried out. I told MVIA that I had it repaired and just wanted my R3000 back. This I was refused. Stating that it was against policy procedure. Where they going to give me a car to use for 45 days? no. Did they drag the claim out to give me no choice? yes. Were they going to pay the R12600.00? No. So now it boils down to one simple thing They were not going to pay out from day one. Go back and check on all Hello Peter cases against them. NO Reply, No Reply or only an automated response which I experienced already. I even tried calling MVIA. Waited 35 minutes to have my call answered and the on 3 occasions when the call was getting to 15H33 the representative says," Oh you have been on the call so long let me call you back "and that's the last you hear from them. Emails continuously bounce back. I've even tried calling to speak to a senior or even the director. That gets shot down. So fellow policy holders, cancel your insurance with Motor Happy. You will never see money from them and will never be happy
