Beaurocratic Bullies

I wish to share a few experiences with current or prospective clients of OLD MUTUAL INSURE previously known as Mutual and Federal. If you are engaging in whether it be Home Owners insurance, Household Goods or Motor Vehicle insurance (I have all three) be aware of a range of issues that will determine the acceptance and processing of your claim. My personal experiences with OLD MUTUAL INSURE:- Some months back I noticed a pressure drop in my borehole irrigation system and did the natural thing by summoning the services of my local borehole specialist who on prior occasion assisted me in pulling the pump to identify possible defects. At this time my Homeowners Policy was still covered by my Bond Insurance. It was found that the pump was faulty and subsequently replaced by the then insurer. However, on this more recent occasion I followed the same process but while pulling the pump, for whatever reason the pump became stuck in the borehole and could not be retrieved. A claim was then lodged with OLD MUTUAL INSURE to retrieve the pump via other specialist avenues but the claim was flatly rejected on grounds that the pump was undergoing maintenance procedures at the time of the incident. I still do not enjoy the benefits of my borehole. Warning ⚠ In the event of any Homeowner related claims with OLD MUTUAL INSURE whether it be borehole, pool pump or filter, gate or garage door motor, electric fence energizer, etc, do not attempt a repair or attempt preventative maintenance because if anything goes wrong your claim will be rejected. In terms of Household Goods, OLD MUTUAL INSURE will not do an assessment of contents but rather attach a balloon amount to cover any losses of unspecified items. I, very recently, fell victim to an incident of housebreaking and burglary during which both my wife and my laptops were ****** along with her handbag. Having lodged a claim with OLD MUTUAL INSURE, I was then requested to issue proof of ownership of the laptops. As far as I am concerned, I will keep proof of purchase invoices for the duration of the guarantee or warranty period and then discard the document. For heaven sake, if one had to keep proof of ownership documents for every item in your house for an indefinite period, that is ridiculous. In the case of the laptops. What if the item was a gift or issued by an employer as a tool of trade or something similar, proof of ownership may be difficult. My claim was once again rejected by OLD MUTUAL INSURE. I see this whole process as being designed to create loopholes for OLD MUTUAL INSURE to escape liability. These my friends are the faces of Corporate Beaurocratic Bullies like OLD MUTUAL INSURE. I will shortly be investigating alternative insurance avenues.
