Bad-Faith Claims Handling: When an Insurer Chooses Obstruction Over Integrity
My dealings with Old Mutual Insure are a warning to anyone who expects fair treatment from this insurer. This was a simple matter: their insured damaged my solar panels during installation. What followed was not accountability, but a string of evasions and delays. The insurer’s emails repeatedly circled around “process” and “requirements” while refusing to deal with the substance of the claim. At one point, they acknowledged the involvement of their client, yet still avoided accepting liability. The pattern is clear: No direct answer any issues Shifting the issue onto procedure, instead of addressing the facts. Contradictory correspondence, which raises more questions than it answers. This isn’t just poor service — it’s behaviour that looks like bad-faith claims handling. An ethical insurer would protect its client and resolve a valid third-party claim. Instead Old mutual insure has done the opposite: stall, deflect, and frustrate. The public should be aware: dealing with this insurer may mean facing endless obstacles, where fairness and integrity take a back seat to tactics designed to avoid paying legitimate claims. Shocking to say the least
