2 MONTHS - STILL NO RESOLUTION

On 18 December last year my Ford Ranger Wildtrak was struck by lightning as I was driving back to Pretoria. I called the Mutual & Federal emergency number to register the claim and they immediately arranged a tow truck to tow my vehicle to Welkom. When I called Mutual & Federal two days later to find out what was happening with my vehicle, I was surprised to hear that my claim was never registered in the first place and had to reregister my claim for a second time.

Elke Smit, the broker from FNB emailed claim forms to me to complete and return to her, which I did. However she did not respond to any of my numerous emails or voice mails when I tried to find out what was happening with my claim.

My vehicle was eventually towed to Lazarus Ford in Centurion. An assessor from Mutual & Federal inspected the vehicle early in January and I was advised that a forensic investigator would be appointed, as no one could make a decision on the way forward. For the purposes of being brief, eventually two units were installed in the vehicle in order to enable communication with the vehicle, however after TWO MONTHS the vehicle is still not functioning and my claim has not yet been resolved.

I am still paying my monthly instalment and insurance for a vehicle which I do not have the use of. In the meantime I am also forced to incur extra costs to hire a vehicle.

Frans from Mutual & Federal has been endeavouring to give me feedback on a regular basis, however this is affecting my business and there is absolutely no urgency on the part of Mutual & Federal to resolve this matter. No one can give me an indication if the vehicle must be written off or if they will repair it and how long it is going to take.
