Mustek not conducting honest business and not providing customer service

Received a T490S laptop from Mustek on an insurance claim for about R35 000-00. This laptop is supposed to have one of the best batteries that can provide more than 10 hours work time on battery power. However, since receiving the laptop, it never managed to reach even 5 hours battery time.

After 7 months and trying everything suggested on the internet, including running several battery reports, I concluded that the battery is faulty and the laptop was sent to Mustek for a battery swop under warranty.

Firstly, Mustek immediately sent a quote for the repair (note that the repair is only a battery swop) for R5 088-00! They said that the warranty for the battery is only 6 months and therefore they will charge for the battery swop, yet Lenovo states clearly on their website that it is a 12 month warranty.

After sending a mail with a screenshot from the Lenovo website regarding the warranty, Mustek apologized for the "mistake" and informed me that they will order a new battery under warranty and do the swop.

I was informed that the ETA for a new battery is 7 - 10 days. This time passed and when I asked again they informed me that ETA is now mid-January.

The date they provided passed again and when I followed up with them I was informed that they do not have any ETA and they are waiting for feedback from the supplier.

It is now 2 months since I sent the laptop in for the battery swop and at the moment I have no indication when this swop will be done.

I would not recommend Mustek when considering purchasing a new laptop, as they do not conduct honest business and the customer service is extremely poor.

If I could give zero stars, I would at this point, but one will have to do.
